A Newt For Roddy

A Newt for Roddy cover_400Nelson (Salamander): London, 1965 / Illustrations: ©Constance Marshall

After they moved from the house that inspired The Hidden Road, Leila’s family lived on the South Side of Streatham Common, in South London.

That house had a garden with a small pond in it, and in that pond lived many newts, which endlessly fascinated and entertained her son, Daniel (or at that time, probably Danny).

Leila also edited the whole Salamander series, of which this was one.
